IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–California American Water will participate in the 31st U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, 2011. The Competition originally started in 1980, when a group of Imperial Beach residents decided to form the committee and host the first event after being inspired by a similar competition in their sister city of White Rock, British Columbia

Carjack, shooting suspect arrested
Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 8:36 p.m. SAN DIEGO – An 18-year-old man suspected of trying to kill two people during a carjacking attempt in Imperial Beach last summer was arrested Wednesday after a 90-minute standoff with law officers in southeastern San Diego, authorities said.
