Caltrans gets $55M to improve rail safety, reduce congestion on L.A. to San Diego lines

Caltrans announced Wednesday it will use a $55 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration to add a key safety feature to trains operating on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner rail corridor between Los Angeles and San Diego, and to complete a third track between L.A.

Trains move on along eroded Del Mar bluffs

Wind and water at Del Mar Beach have stayed unbeaten. The Del Mar Bluffs, defaced and blown down into the sand, still stand under the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains that run along on top, but nine years after work began in 2002 will again get cut into and stabilized with soldier piles.
